THE BOEHME CASE - THE WONDROUS LIFE OF A LEFT-HANDED MAN
Synopsis
All three of them are sporty types: the twins Matthias and Wolfgang Boehme as well as their older brother Hans-Werner. But only one takes the successful step from the 1960s GDR into the international world of high performing sports: Wolfgang, a handball talent of highest order. Left-handed. He attends boarding school at the age 13, followed by a sports school and the merchant navy - always away from his mother and father. When sport was misused in the years of the Cold War it was difficult for him to find his place in life. He is the captain of the national team. Then something inconceivable happens: he is exemted just before the 1980 Olympics in Moscow and is compelled to detrain.
