Synopsis
WOODSTOCK IN TIMBUKTU - the art of resistance is a 90min. documentary telling the story of an amazing music festival in the Sahara, the 'festival au desert'. "Congratulations to Bombino from the Republic of Niger for replacing their Kalashnikovs with guitars!" This statement opens the film and follows three bands from different regions, each telling their unique story. AMANAR sings about the discrimination of nomads. TARTIT is a traditional women's band. They met in a refugee camp during the rebellions, but now perform songs about peace and love. BOMBINO launches a worldwide career while warning about multinational companies exploiting the mineral resources of the Sahara.
