What forms and possibilities lie in literature when the focus is on inclusion and solidarity? For the second time, THE PERFORMATIVE BOOK FAIR invites you to meet, network and organise. At the festive opening, after a welcome by the curators of the book fair, Pajam Masoumi and Alina Buchberger, the novelist Sharon Dodua Otoo and the literary translator Mirjam Nuenning will speak about different aspects of translations which are sensitive to hierarchies of power and dominance: spoken languages, written languages, sign languages, aesthetics, power asymmetries, exploitative conditions, translations in the tense relationship between the individual and the collective, between times and contexts. The opening will be complemented by David Yusuf‘s sign language performace of his poem “Deaf Black”. Two keynotes will follow and open the bookfair: Novelist Sharon Dodua Otoo and literary translator Mirjam Nuenning will speak about different aspects of translations which are sensitive to hierarchies of power and dominance. Then, Dr. Sami Schalk will give a talk about the metaphor of disability in Octavia Butler’s “Kindred”.
