The annual Christmas soundtrack with Wham!, Mariah Carey and Jingle Bells in winter is just as difficult to avoid as the Christmas cookies in the supermarket, which start appearing on the shelves and then around the hips from September onwards. That's why the NDR Vokalensemble and the NDR Bigband are now countering the pre-Christmas season acoustically by expanding the Christmas repertoire and rearranging Christmas classics: Together they present gospels and jazz arrangements and improvise on well-known melodies under the direction of Dutch conductor and organist Klaas Stok, who has been chief conductor of the NDR Vokalensemble since the 2018/2019 season (then known as the NDR Choir).
