The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra is one of the world’s best, and can always be found on critics’ lists alongside the Berlin Philharmonic as the two leading German orchestras. And although such principal conductors as Rafael Kubelik and Lorin Maazel left their stamp on the BRSO, maestro Mariss Jansons has raised the bar of musical identity to an even higher level.

»For me as a conductor, it feels like driving a Rolls-Royce. There’s nothing that this orchestra can’t do« – thus Jansons, who has headed the luxury ensemble with brilliance and brio since 2003. The Latvian native now brings the Munich orchestra to the Elbphilharmonie for two guest appearances.
