The cry for the vanished princess still echoes today: the daughter of King Agenor and Queen Telephassa was abducted; they sent their other children to search for her, but none ever returned. The German-Italian duo TÒ SU (Martina Mahlknecht & Martin Prinoth) interprets this founding myth of the European continent as a parable for the current realities of displacement: today, too, those who seek Europe risk their lives—and may never see their families again.In this multimedia theatre performance, five people with experiences of forced migration use virtual reality to reconstruct their dangerous attempts to cross Europe’s outer borders and share their visions of Europe. TÒ SU were last seen in Kampnagel’s programme with their immersive film installation THE STAFF YOUR DREAMS ARE MADE OF, and later toured with the VR version Below Deck to the Venice Biennale.
