Bittersweet Kiss

Synopsis

BITTERSWEET KISS grapples with the theme of migration in Germany, calling into question common typical stereotypes. It focuses on four protagonists who have been living in Berlin for many years. Three migrants from Thailand and a German protagonist married to a Thai woman.
This film highlights the cultural challenges in everyday life.In this intimate world of images there are no explanations - no extra clarification. Proffering no additional information, the directors rely wholly on the mechanisms of DIRECT CINEMA.
The viewer becomes a friend, colleague, customer or guest, sitting at the table at mealtimes, singing along in the karaoke bar, walking the dog and cooking for the child. He endures the long nights and hopes for good news when the phone rings.
In this world karaoke has a distinctive resonance set against the background of the Thai culture of decency, in which one's own emotions are kept in check and, even in private, the deepest core of the heart remains hidden.
Karaoke is an entertaining and community-creating medium that offers the opportunity to process and show emotions without losing face. Karaoke is recreational activity, business foundation, therapy, art, culture and everyday life.
BITTERSWEET KISS is a no budget project.
