“History is the pattern that is woven into the chaos afterwards” (Carlo Levi). These patterns result from what was handed down, from one’s own views and those of others. In this lecture performance, the dance scholar Christina Thurner and the classically trained dancer Foofwa d’Imobilité approach the dance history of experimental, neoclassical and contemporary ballet in the 20th century by means of text, moving images and danced presentations. The aim is to sharpen perception – for one only sees what one knows.
