The Symphoniker Hamburg has focused on large orchestrated chamber music for many seasons now: the pianist and composer Ohad Ben-Ari, connected to the Symphoniker through past collaborations, reworked Tchaikovsky’s monumental piano trio into a double concerto, helping it to become »truly grand«. Tchaikovsky himself found that he »sinned« with the smaller instrumentation and his trio should have been symphonic music.
